Edwin is Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and is the founder of YOGA THAT. He began practicing Yoga in 1989 in New York City. Over the last 25+ years, he has practiced and studied with many great teachers in the Iyengar, YogaWorks, Integral and Anusara schools of yoga. Edwin is registered as experienced (E-RYT500) with Yoga Alliance. Before turning to Iyengar Yoga, Edwin traveled the world, leading the highly respected YogaWorks Teacher Training. Mariso de Colsa
Marisó is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Before Yoga Mariso’ worked in the Corporate world for many years and has practiced yoga most of her life. Her grandmother was a beloved yoga teacher in Mexico She fell in love with Iyengar yoga after gaining full range of motion of a frozen shoulder. She has been a devoted student and true believer ever since. She decided to become a yoga teacher to share with others the benefits of yoga, including mental and spiritual. Marisó continues her studies with Rebecca and Dean Lerner and Rosa Santana. She has also studied with James Murphy, Carrie Owerko and recently with Geeta Iyengar in India.
In 2002 Javier discovered IYENGAR Yoga as a result to a constant quest to improve concentration and release stress; this discipline not only helped him overcome these challenges but also opened the doors to a new spiritual path. Javier has participated in numerous teacher trainings and workshops with leading Iyengar Yoga Instructors including, since 2014 Javier have been traveling to India to study with the Iyengars, specialy with Geeta and Prashant. Javier has been studying with closely with the most important Iyengar yoga teachers: Manouso Manos, Rebecca and Dean Lerner, Marina Chaselon, Colleen Gallagher and Faeq Biria.
Katrin is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. She has traveled to India multiple times to study with the Iyengars. She studies regularly with her teacher and mentor Colleen Gallagher and other leading Yoga teachers including Manouso Manos , John Schumacher and Gabriella Giubilaro. Initially drawn to yoga for its physical benefits and for relief of back pain due to her scoliosis, yoga’s ability to calm and steady the mind continues to hold her interest. She is been teaching at Prana Yoga Miami since 2001. Katrin’s teaching style is energetic and precision oriented. She works with students of all ages and levels as well as with students with physical injuries or limitations. She lives in Miami with her husband and her 2 children.
Roger was raised with a holistic sensibility, yoga seemed the correct step to help overcome an injury sustained in the mid 1980’s. Living in Chicago, Roger studied art and showed in local galleries. He focused on combining his visual imagery to convey his interests in metaphysics and meditation. He began the study and practice of alignment yoga in mid 1985 with Gabriel Halpern in the Iyengar style. The combination of the external physical aspect complimented by the internal inward journey was a wondrous frontier. The practice sparked a passion for greater understanding of body alignment and awareness This longstanding desire to experience deeper integration of body, mind and spirit inspires his practice and teaching. Moving to Miami in 1990 he continued his practice and studied with Bobbi Golden and more recently Manuso Manos, Carrie Owerko, Patricia Walden. Roger is 200YTT certified with YogaWorks and studies with Edwin Bergman. He is registered with the Yoga Alliance.
Valerie is originally from Switzerland, where she began training in Ballet. Following a scholarship to Belgium, she then trained at the American Ballet School in NYC and became a professional. Meanwhile, she had found the path of yoga to ease her body and mind and a way to learn to slow down. She has found a new purpose in teaching the knowledge gained through many years of body movements and alignments. Valerie obtained the RYT 200 Teacher Training Certification from YogaWorks and registered with the Yoga Alliance. She continues to study at Yoga That with her mentor Edwin Bergman. She is now teaching Basic practice at Yoga That Studio and determined to pass along this subtle art of detailed alignment found in each yoga postures.
(International Association of Yoga Therapists) is a Yoga Allaince Registered RYT 500 Gentle Thereputics Yoga teacher. She also holds dual 200 hour teaching certifications in Skanda and YogaWorks as well as a certification in Yoga for Scoliosis. Alissa is a Reiki Master in the Usui/Holy Fire system of Reiki Healing with Advanced Reiki training. Her creative classes infuse the energy of the day and seek inspiration from the Mayan calendar along with creating safe opportunities using a variety of props to lengthen, strengthen and restore the body. She was drawn to the practice after years of suffering from chronic low back, shoulder and TMJ pain. She found that the inclusion of a consistant practice in her life diminished her symptoms until they eventually disappeared. As a consequence of her personal trasformation, she embarked on her journey of professional healing. She has studied with many teachers including certifications from Allaine Stricklen (300 hours Genlte Theraputics), Edwin Bergman (200 hours YogaWorks), Ken Von Roenn (200 hours Skanda Yoga), and Jordan Bloom (100 hour Anusara Immersion). She has also dedicated many hours of practice with John Friend, Christy Nones-McKenzie, Ganesha, Master Gyrotonic Trainers, Mige Germann, Jackson Kellogg, Arash Dastranji-Sedghi and Elise Browning Miller. Mid-life has taught Alissa that you do not need to have a “flexy-bendy” body to begin and progress. Suzana is Certified Intermediate Jr. 1 Iyengar Yoga Teacher. She started practicing Iyengar Yoga in 1996 with Simon Marrocco in Australia. In 2003, after moving to California, she taught Iyengar Yoga to patients at a physical therapy office. Suzana’s main teachers in California were Deb Murray and Manouso Manos. Suzana was one of the original founders of the Orange County Iyengar Yoga Community, a study group for students and teachers of Iyengar Yoga. Suzana studied with Mr. Iyengar in Estes Park whilst pregnant with her son, and she attended the Iyengar National Convention , featuring Geeta Iyengar in Las Vegas.
My classes are dynamic and Vinyasa-based, focusing on breath, fluid movement, alignment and creativity. Group classes are designed to help students open and strengthen their bodies while focusing their minds. Each class is an opportunity to quiet the mind, create spaciousness and awaken the heart. My intention is to ultimately convey this message to my students, as it has made a significant impact in my own life.
Ivette’s foray into yoga began in 1999 with Hatha yoga under Alan Finger (creator of Yogaworks). After 15 years of a sustainable personal yoga practice in the styles of Ashtanga, Hatha and Iyengar, Ivette completed her 200 hour yoga teachers training with Yogaworks. In 2014 she completed 50 hours specifically for Yoga for Cancer Survivor in Boulder, Colorado and is Reiki I, II attuned. In July 2015, Ivette added another 25 hours of training with the SuperYogis SchoolHouse™ to be able to also cater her classes to Kids & Teens. Ivette is fervent about honoring and sustaining the true yoga philosophies and traditions thus always incorporating doses of these in her classes. Ivette incorporates well-rounded sequences that leave her students with perpetual calmness, zing and peace. She believes in honoring all levels of practice; so whether you are beginner or an advanced student, you will find her classes fun and challenging. Mariana was born in Argentina where she got her Degree in Physical Education. Teaching and being in contact with students is her passion. It was during the pregnancy of her first daughter when she realized how empowering and transformational Yoga can be. After years of practicing with Nichole Ruiz she completed her 200hrs YogaWorks Teacher Training with Edwin Bergman who always inspired and motivated her to keep growing.
She is studying with Katrin Loveland focusing more in alignment and deepen her practice and knowledge in Iyengar Yoga.
Her classes are well sequenced and challenging. She teaches also in Spanish.
Yoga helps her be a better person, gives her a sense of calmness and peace to be aware of what is really important in life.
Lois is a life long resident of Miami Beach and stepped into her first yoga class after years of tennis, jogging and swimming. She was transformed by the power of yoga to heal, expand and create a sense of freedom for her body. She became certified in Hatha yoga with Peter Barber (2001) and studied Anusara yoga with John Friend. She received her Anusara Inspired certification in 2006. She has also studied Bikram and Iyengar yoga. She is registered E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance. Her class flows with an inspirational theme and students will leave feeling uplifted and joyful.
Andy began his yoga training in New York City with Cyndi Lee and Elena Brower. When he moved to Miami 5 years ago, he dove into power yoga teacher training with Paul Toliuszis and Fred Busch and has been teaching ever since. He recently completed a second teacher training in the YOgaWorks style with Edwin Bergman. Andy teaches a mixed style class influenced by various yoga practices as well as his dance and performance background. Classes are designed to increase strength, flexibility, alignment, balance and inner peace.
